Note: Police officers often do not ask for these documents, but the law applies and you will be penalized if you do not have them. Sometimes, if you don’t have all the copies or they’re not filled out correctly, you can end up with a bad employee who wants to cause trouble. If you miss it, you can often get away with a fine by being polite and always smiling. Remember this is Thailand 🙂

That’s it! Now you can drive into Thailand in no time, or when you are stopped by an official to check if your passport is stamped, just show it and you’re through.

To be honest, the process is very simple. You may want to skip the border crossing during Malaysian public holidays, as the queues at the border can be long and you may be stuck for hours. You can also go to other smaller borders such as Wan Kerian, as they may not be as busy as the Bukit Kayu Hitam/Dang Nok border.

After completing the formalities at the immigration counter, we will pick up the passenger from the opposite side of the immigration area.

Then go to the Thai border exit and stop right next to the customs counter. Then return the temporary custom form to the clerk and sign the handbook.

Tip: We recommend taking a photo of your signed book entry manual for your personal records. In some cases, Thai customs may impose a fine of 10,000 baht upon re-entering Thailand if the visitor does not return the form.

This is likely due to employee negligence. In these cases, you can always provide proof (photo) that you sent the custom form back to us.

No, you don’t have to. You may be asked to have your passport stamped at an immigration counter.

However, if you have another passenger who can accompany you to the immigration facility, they will also need to have their passports stamped at the immigration facility.

Crossing The Border Between Malaysia And Thailand — Adventures Of Jellie

Generally, for tourists/visitors to Thailand, an IDP is not required as long as the permit is written in English, has a photo attached, and your country is party to the 1949 Geneva Convention on Road Traffic. Most countries, including Malaysia, are members. . There is also an ASEAN agreement that recognizes local driving licenses issued by ASEAN countries.

However, although there is always debate about this, for me the main decision to obtain an international driving license was for insurance reasons. Most travel insurance policies I’ve looked at state that an IDP is required in case of accidental or medical claims. The paperwork for the last vehicle we rented in Thailand also required us to apply for insurance through an IDP.

If you are Malaysian, you can get an IDP for RM150 at the JPJ office. A sample IDP is shown in the image to the right.

Note: If you are unsure, please refer to your vehicle manual to determine the type of fuel you should use. The following data is shared for informational purposes only.

Unleashing Thailand’s Electric Mobility Potential

There are different types of fuels that threaten different categories. Most modern vehicles can run on E95 petrol (100% RON 95 – yellow handle) and Gasohol 95 E10 (RON 95+10% ethanol – orange handle).

We recommend refueling at Raj Sajna gas station, as other gas stations may have 20% ethanol in the orange handle pump, which can cause confusion.

In 2016, Singaporean travelers entering Thailand through land border crossings can enter the country without a visa only twice in a calendar year. However, the government has now amended the regulations to allow Singaporeans entering Thailand for tourism purposes to cross land border crossings without a visa more than once in a calendar year.

Pre-approval is required to enter Thailand. In December 2016, Thailand introduced new regulations requiring motorists to obtain a Foreign Vehicle Permit (FVP) and driver before entering the country.

Comprehensive Car Insurance: Third Party, Liability, Fire & Theft

Technically, two licenses are required. Temporary Import Permit (TIP) and Foreign Vehicle Permit (FVP). DNIs are free and can be obtained at customs offices at the border. FVPs must be arranged through a registered travel agent and can take up to two weeks. The cost is between $300 and $500.

FPV seems to be less strictly enforced at junctions in Malaysia, but it is enforced at junctions in Laos and Cambodia. I have a foreign friend who recently crossed the small Wangkelian Pass, and he didn’t mention FPV at all. But when he left Thailand for Cambodia, a customs official warned him: “You don’t have a passport.”
